Final Packing List for GD60: Here’s What’s in My Bag
Last week’s post got a lot of love—thank you for all the DMs and shares! So many of you told me it helped you prep, especially those flying in or heading to your first Dead show. As promised, here’s my full GD60 packing list.
This is the gear I’ve packed, and a few essentials I realized when packing myself, I left out in last weeks post. I also included a printable checklist and some info about Shakedown Street for those planning to shop before the shows. (Tip: Items purchased at Shakedown must fit into your clear bag or backpack to enter concert venue.)

Before you zip up that bag, here’s the latest forecast for GD60 weekend (check back before you head out for the latest updates):
Friday: 67° / 56° – Mostly sunny early, cool breeze by evening
Saturday: 64° / 55° – Patchy fog in the morning, overcast afternoon
Sunday: 62° / 55° – Cool and cloudy with possible mist

Know Before You Go: GD60 Rules – What's Allowed In (and What's Not)
Make sure you know what is—and isn’t—allowed at Golden Gate Park. There’s no re-entry, no lockers, and a few restrictions on bags, chairs, and more.

Here’s what’s coming with me:
Festival Essentials
- Clear backpack – Required at the gates.
Clear Backpack - Pop-up stool – For the long lines and long sets.
Portable Stool - Refillable water bottle – water stations are provided.
Plastic 32oz Water Bottle - Puffer vest + hoodie – Layers are survival in chilly SF.
Puffer Vest + Good Ol' GD Hoodie - Knit hat – Keeps your head warm when the fog rolls in.
GD Knit Hat - Fingerless gloves – Keep your hands warm Gloves (touchscreen-friendly)
- Poster Tube – Keep your Dead & Co event poster dry and safe Shop Poster Tube
Essentials I forgot in last weeks post:
- Microfiber Towel – For sitting down and holding your spot. Shop Microfiber towel
- Solar charger – No outlets, no problem. This one ships fast has built in cords for your phone and works great for festivals. Shop Solar Charger
- Earplugs – two kinds:
• Reusable concert earplugs
• Individually wrapped foam earplugs - Kleenex pocket packs – Porta-potties run out. These are compact and resealable. Shop Pocket Packs
- Wet wipes – I always have a few of these individually wrapped ones just in case the handwashing stations run dry (they often do).

Snacks –
Aren’t listed as prohibited in the park, (but I would keep on the DL as you head through security), and will save you $ big time:
- Lollipops or hard candy – Saves a concession stand trip and reduces bathroom breaks.
- Beef jerky – High protein, low fuss, great holdover
- Trail mix – Easy energy boost between sets

A Quick Guide to Shakedown Street
If you’ve never been, Shakedown Street is the unofficial DeadHead marketplace —part traveling bazaar, part sidewalk boutique, and 100% homegrown Deadhead culture.
At Golden Gate Park, Shakedown will be at the JFK Promenade and is approximately a 15 minute walk to the Polo Fields (concert venue).
You’ll find:
- Handmade tie-dye, vintage Dead merch, and wearable art
- Pins, patches, glasswork, stickers, jewelry and original prints
- Grilled cheese sandwiches (a Deadhead staple), and other food options (Sometimes good variety of eats, sometimes not so much. I don't rely on eating at Shakedown.)
- Acoustic jams and colorful characters around every corner
